The email forwarding service will allow you to set up an email address ending with “@alumni.ilstu.edu”, and any email sent to that address will be forwarded to the email account of your choice (such as Gmail or Yahoo); forwarding email addresses do not have an inbox that stores email messages. With email forwarding, you can keep the same “@alumni.ilstu.edu” address regardless of what email account you prefer to use at any given time.
How to Forward Emails
To sign up you will need your Alumni ID, which can be requested by contacting Alumni Engagement at (309) 438-2586 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Once you have your Alumni ID, click on the sign up link below and enter your Alumni ID where indicated, as well as the “Word in box” value that appears on your screen, and then click “Proceed”. You will be presented with some options for your forwarding email address; simply choose one and then enter the email address you wish to have email forwarded to in the “Destination Email Address” box and click “Finish”. Please note that you cannot use an ISU inbox (@ilstu.edu or @illinoisstate.edu) as a “Destination Email Address”.
Once you have set-up the forwarding address, any email sent to the forwarding address you chose will be instantly routed to the “Destination Email Address” you entered upon setup.
If you would like to change or remove the address to which your “@alumni.ilstu.edu” mail is forwarded to, simply follow the same instructions as above and then either enter the new “Destination Email Address” of your choice or click the checkbox to remove your forwarding email address. You can then click the “Change” button to save your new preference.
Due to the high volume of email accounts managed by the university, Illinois State email accounts will be deactivated six months after graduation. New graduates are encouraged to set up their email forwarding address before they leave campus.
