Association Open Committees

• Awards

  Reviews nominations and selects recipients of the annual Alumni Association Awards - Distinguished Alumni Award, Alumni Achievement Award, E. Burton Mercier Alumni Service Award, Outstanding Young Alumni Award, Andrew Purnell Jr. Trailblazer Award, and Senator John W. Maitland, Jr., Commitment to Education Award. Participates in the Awards ceremony and recognition dinner which takes place each year during the Founding Celebration.

• Board Development

  Cultivates and recruits potential Association board members. Prepares a slate of nominations for membership on the Alumni Association board of directors and its executive committee. Plans for the effective involvement of board members in service to the Alumni Association and University.

• Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

  Work together with members of our diverse campus community and affiliated alumni organizations with a goal toward creating greater understanding, equity, and inclusion across the Illinois State community.

• Executive

  Represents and provides overall leadership to the Alumni Association board of directors. Includes the officers of the Association, the immediate past president, and at-large directors elected by the membership.

• Golden Redbirds

  Creates more opportunities and experiences for our alumni 60 years and older. The Half Century Club Subcommittee falls under Golden Redbirds.

• Homecoming

  Supports the University's efforts to bring alumni to campus for the annual Homecoming celebration.

• Presidents' Roundtable

  Works to broaden the Alumni Association's network of influence and support and to advance the purposes of Illinois State University within government, corporations/businesses, and campus constituencies as needed.

• Redbird Engagement and Development (RED)

  Provide leadership and direction for alumni to continue the lifelong responsibility of being informed and engaged global citizens through meaningful opportunities.

• Scholarships

  Determines criteria and funding levels for scholarships and tuition waivers provided through the Alumni Association. Selects scholarship recipients as needed.

Association Liasons

• Redbird Athletics Liaison

  Serves as the Alumni Association representative to the Redbird Athletics Council.

• Foundation Board Liaison

  Serves as the Alumni Association representative to the Illinois State University Foundation Board.

• Bone Scholar Liaison

  Serves as the Alumni Association representative to the Bone Scholar selection committee.

• Honorary Degree Liaison

  Serves as the Alumni Association representative to the Honorary Degree recipient selection committee.
