Dane has built a career centered on community engagement, public service, and leadership development. As a graduate student, Dane participated in the Applied Community and Economic Development (ACED) sequence through the Stevenson Center, gaining hands-on experience working with community organizations and strengthening skills in collaboration and applied learning. These experiences shaped a long-term commitment to community development and public service that continues to guide their professional work.
Dane currently serves as Assistant Director of the Stevenson Center for Community and Economic Development at Illinois State University, where he support interdisciplinary graduate programs focused on preparing socially engaged leaders and strengthening community partnerships. Dane’s career includes work in restorative justice and diversion programs with McLean County Court Services and the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office, behavioral health services with Chestnut Health Systems, youth advocacy and homelessness services with Urban Peak in Denver, and international service as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
A dedicated Redbird, he credits Illinois State University with instilling values of servant leadership, social responsibility, and lifelong community engagement.
