• Norbert Blei '57

  Author of the Chicago trilogy of Neighborhoods, The Ghost of Sandburg-Es Phizzog, and Chi Town.

• Mort Castle '68

  A writer specializing in the horror genre, he has written seven novels, two short story collections, and hundreds of "shorter works." His work has appeared in Mike Shayne Mystery Magazine, The Writer, Adventures of the Batman, and the Masques.

• Kate Charles '72

  A mystery novelist who bases all of her novels out of the Church of England. Her works include Evil Angels Among Them, Unruly Passions, Cruel Habitations, Appointed to Die, and False Tongues.

• James T. Durkin '89, M.S. '91

  Works as a strategic analyst in insurance fraud who published the fiction novel, In My Dreams. Also published The Call of Angels.

• T. Louise Freeman-Toole, M.S. '98

  Authored Standing Up to the Rock which was named the 2002 Book of the Year by the Idaho Library Association.

• Jawanza Kunjufu '74

  Founder and president of African American Images, a Chicago firm that helps black children develop self-awareness and a sense of pride in their heritage. He also also authored many books including: State of Emergency: We Save African-American Males, Black College Student Survival Guide, The MIS-Education of Negros, and Good Brothers Looking for Good Sisters.

• Eric Rohmann '80, M.S. '85

  Author and illustrator of children's books, received the 2003 Caldecott medal for this book, My Friend Rabbit. He also received a 1995 Caldecott Honor book award for Time Flies. His other titles include The Cinder Eyed Cats, Pumpkinhead, Last Song, and Bone Dog.

• Penn Bobby Singh '82

  Author of the novel, A Perennial Stream.

• Samuel Zaffiri '68

  Wrote Hamburger Hill and also authored Westmoreland, a biography on General William C. Westmoreland.
