Activities at Illinois State

There is always something going on and around the Illinois State campus that our Golden Redbirds members would enjoy. Below are just a few areas that put on excellent programs and events year-round.

  • Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts

The Illinois State University Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts offers many experiences and programs for all audiences through its four schools and programs. Witness the extraordinary talents of Illinois State students by taking in a show, a concert, or a recital. Also make an afternoon by visiting University Galleries in Uptown Normal to view varying exhibitions throughout the year.

  • Ewing Cultural Center

The Ewing Cultural Center is home to many annual community events. This beautiful estate, left to the Illinois State University Foundation by the late Hazle Buck Ewing, allows visitors to celebrate the area's culture, landscape, and nature.

  • Illinois Shakespeare Festival

The Illinois Shakespeare Festival exemplifies a long-established tradition of professional theatre devoted to performing the works of William Shakespeare. Although its main program occurs in the summer, the Illinois Shakespeare Festival still holds several programs throughout the year.

  • Illinois State Athletics

There is always a game or match to see in every season with Illinois State Athletics. With seven men's and ten women's athletic teams, fans have opportunities to #BackTheBirds and enjoy all the activities that surrounds Redbird pride.

  • Illinois State Speakers Series

The Speaker Series of Illinois State University seeks to bring innovative and enlightening speakers to the campus with the aim of providing the community with a platform to foster dialogue, cultivate enriching ideas, and continue an appreciation of learning as an active and lifelong process. All events are free.

  • Senior Professionals

Senior Professionals is a membership-based organization of retired and semi-retired individuals from Central Illinois with backgrounds in various fields, including business, education, social service, trades, health care, volunteerism and more. Senior Professionals offers creative learning experiences, cultural enrichment and social interaction.

One special program put on by Senior Professionals, Mornings with a Professor, allows attendees to spend one morning a week learning about a different subject area from Illinois State professors.
